A house on Ocean Road is not the same job as a house in Wakefield.
Six miles inland, an exterior coating deals with sun and rain. On the Narragansett shoreline it deals with salt carried in on the wind, ultraviolet reflected off open water, and a freeze-thaw cycle that works at every joint through the winter. South and west elevations facing the water take the worst of all three at once.
So we specify by elevation rather than by house. Marine-grade primer where the salt lands, a longer cure window when humidity is high off the water, and a caulking schedule that assumes the joint will move. It is why a repaint here should last, and why the cheap version does not.
