Bay water, not open ocean
Greenwich Bay is sheltered compared with the South County shore, so the problem is less wind-driven salt and more humidity. Walls facing the cove stay damp, and mildew grows under the paint. A proper wash and a mildew-resistant primer matter more here than the topcoat.
The historic hill
The colonial and Federal-era houses on the hill above the harbor have old clapboard, original trim and many layers of earlier paint. Some of it should be stripped and some should be stabilized and left alone. We'll tell you which, and why.

A fresh exterior and clean interior trim are among the most noticeable things a buyer sees. When a listing date is set, we plan the work backward from it and tell you up front what can be done well in the time available.
